1. You’re known for blending poetic Arabic lyrics with Western musical influences. How did you find your voice in this fusion style, and what inspired that direction?
From an early age, I was enchanted by melody and drawn irresistibly to the world of music. This profound passion led me to explore a vast array of musical genres, blending the rich traditions of Arabic music with the diverse sounds I cherished growing up. My quest for innovation is ceaseless; I’m always seeking new sonic landscapes that challenge my creative boundaries. My journey has always been about crafting something original something that reflects who I am and the path I’ve taken through music.
2. How do you balance preserving traditional Arabic culture with innovating for a modern, global audience in your music?
When emotion and sincerity precede execution, the artwork embodies its true essence. I believe creativity originates from profound feeling and inner honesty before it ever takes form. That’s how I keep my music grounded in tradition while still making it accessible to today’s listeners.
3. As a UN Peace Messenger, how do you channel messages of peace and love through your songs? Do you believe music can truly shift perspectives in today’s world?
Absolutely. I believe the essence of art lies in creating works that honour our shared humanity and its inherent beauty. When that is achieved, I feel like I’ve contributed to building a space where love, respect, compassion, and gratitude can thrive. Music has a powerful way of crossing barriers it speaks to the soul.
4. What role do you believe artists play in shaping cultural understanding between the Arab world and the West?
Every artist has a responsibility to their audience. Some nurture that connection deeply, others may overlook it. As a global artist, your audience includes people from all over the world different backgrounds, beliefs, and perspectives. I think our role is to build bridges, not walls.
5. Your track “Mell Bena” won Best Song at the Casablanca Arabic Song Festival. What did that recognition mean to you personally and professionally?
Mell Bena was a heartfelt tribute from the city of Casablanca to the legendary Egyptian composer Hany Shenouda. I had the honour of performing it with the iconic band Al Massrieen. The track blended classical masterpieces with genuine traditional Arabic music. Winning that award was a defining moment—it felt like the culmination of everything I stand for artistically: bridging classical tarab and Eastern heritage in a fresh, meaningful way.
6. You’ve been honoured with several awards and recognitions. Which one stands out the most, and why?
Honestly, the most profound honours are those that come in the form of love, respect, and sincere gratitude from people. With each recognition, I’m deeply moved. It reminds me to keep going, to continue creating with authenticity. Success, to me, is not just about awards it’s about staying connected to the humanity of my audience.
7. How has living in the UAE influenced your creative process or outlook as an artist?
I’m incredibly grateful to the UAE its visionary leadership and its people. This country has created a culture of coexistence and diversity. Being surrounded by over 200 nationalities has opened up remarkable opportunities for cultural exchange, which has enriched both my art and my soul. Living here has taught me that art is more than self-expression it’s a bridge between people, ideas, and emotions.
8. What did receiving the UAE Golden Visa mean to you as a cultural figure in the region?
It was a profound honour more than just a legal privilege. To me, it was a recognition of the power of culture and art in building stronger communities. It affirmed that the UAE values artists and sees their role in shaping society. I’m grateful for this opportunity and even more inspired to contribute to the country’s vibrant cultural landscape.
9. You have a strong online presence. How important is social media in your connection with fans, and how do you stay authentic while sharing both your music and personal life?
I was hesitant at first. I didn’t feel comfortable sharing my life online. But with encouragement from my artist and business manager, I began sharing my music and thoughts and the response truly surprised me. The love and engagement I’ve received brought me closer to my audience. Their support inspires me daily and has helped me understand what really resonates with them.
10. What can fans expect from you next? Are there any upcoming projects or collaborations you’re particularly excited about?
Yes, I’m thrilled to be working on my upcoming album titled “On My Own.” I know my audience missed me during my recent absence, and I’m deeply grateful for their continued support. I’ve spent this time collaborating with several music production companies, and now I’m finally ready to share this new chapter. I can’t wait for everyone to hear it.
