Toploader

Rock Band

British indie band Toploader were established in Eastbourne, 1997, Toploader are a three-piece live band. Beginning their career playing small venues with the likes of Coldplay and Muse, the band were destined for greatness.

They would later go on to support Robbie Williams, Paul Weller, and US rock giants Bon Jovi becoming the last British band to perform at the original Wembley Stadium. Emboldened by sold out shows and legions of fans, Toploader released their first album Onka’s Big Moka in 1999.

Nobody knew just how big this album would get with the third single from the album, ‘Dancing in the Moonlight’ being certified platinum by the British Phonographic Industry. A cover of the King Harvest original, it is still a favourite on playlists with the official music video on YouTube topping 30-million views, 18 years after its initial release. The track has become a staple of pop culture and has been used in films and series such as Better Call Saul, A Walk to Remember, Paul, Four Lions, The Middle, and 2017’s The Hitman’s Bodyguard.

The band followed up with two more album releases in the form of 2002’s Magic Hotel and 2011’s Only Human. These albums featured the singles ‘Time of My Life’, ‘Some Kind of Wonderful’, ‘A Balance to All Things’, and ‘She Said’. Toploader’s sound is unique with frontman Joseph Washburn’s voice and keyboard being characteristic of the Toploader oeuvre. Straddling the line between alternative and indie rock they are a band as pertinent today as they were 20 years ago.

Four of the original five-piece live band still turn out for sold out shows across the country. They have performed at some of the largest national events including the Lakefest Festival, LeeStock Music Festival, AmpRocks Festival and the Tiree Music Festival. Toploader have also done a fair bit for charity agreeing to act as patrons for the UK-based children’s charity Time is Precious.

The big-hearted artists dedicated all the proceeds of their gig in Frome, Somerset to help ill children and their families. Hype surrounding this band is high with the release of new material in the form of their fourth album Seeing Stars. There is no time like the present to book these headliners for your event and ensure your concert, music festival, or corporate function is an unmitigated success.
