Kyra Janse van Rensburg

Kyra was born in Swakopmund, Namibia, and relocated to South Africa in 2010 at the age of 7, where she began her journey in the dramatic arts. Fueled by curiosity about how people entered the TV, she began drama classes, school plays, and local festivals. In 2010, she relocated to Stellenbosch, South Africa, diving deeper into her passion.

With a decade of experience, Kyra boasts professional training in acting and theatre production. Notably, she served as assistant director for “Die Land van Laaf,” offering Eisteddfod training and acting classes to primary school kids in 2021 and 2022.

Kyra earned an A in Dramatic Arts on her NSC and showcased her talent in various productions. Her poem “Toemond kou is goeie gedrag” featured in INK Skryf in Afrikaans’s 2021 anthology INKSPRAAK2, chosen by INK moderators Karen Zoid and Jackie Nachtegaal.

In film, Kyra shone in “My Spy: The Eternal City” and found fulfillment in expressing her character without the pressure of perfection. “Donkievel,” a theatrical success, posed a personal challenge. Uncomfortable with inappropriate roles and clothing, Kyra learned to align her acting choices with her values.

Kyra’s journey includes remarkable stage performances like “Tydloos,” “Opgevoet,” and “Die Kleurryke Reis van Lucia Lindt.” She honed her skills through workshops by Graeme Bunce, Ian van der Westhuizen, Lise-Marié Richardson, and Winnie Nel

Awards adorn Kyra’s journey, including Full Colours for Drama (2020), a Bronze Certificate for ATKV-Tienertoneel Finals (2019), and more. Through challenges and triumphs, Kyra continues to evolve as a skilled and conscientious actress, staying true to her values in every role she embraces.
